In 1990 a small group of parents from Hunter Valley Grammar School at East Maitland formed and supported the school’s Rowing Squad, provided boats and oars, procured land on a straight stretch of the Hunter River between Morpeth and Raymond Terrace, and built and landscaped the boating beach and grounds.
A group of these parents then formed the Endeavour Rowing Club and the club was officially up and rowing in May 1998.
Within the first two years the Club had secured its own freehold land and built its own boat house. Further amenities followed in the ensuing years, all which are set within very pleasant rural acres and on the river.
Endeavour Rowing Club is a community based sporting club and forms part of the Berry Park Rowing Complex, alongside Hunter Valley Grammar School and Newcastle University Boat Club.
The club has several members who coordinate Learn to Row sessions on each Sunday for aspiring rowers.
Members have competed at World, National, State and local levels with considerable success.
Rowing is a fantastic sport; low-impact, aerobic, non-confrontational and amazingly addictive.
It is also SERIOUS FUN! and CHALLENGING! Come along and take the CHALLENGE at Endeavour.
